in this project the model is a tool to facilitate conversations in which women reenact spatially reproduced gendered identities. It becomes a methodology to imagine alternative ways of existing in space, that disrupt the status quo of conventional gender norms.

these iterations showcase form finding exercises in which i looked at the ideas of density, interconnectedness, openness and circulation. these models were made using scrap plywood and can be rearranged, mixing one or more of the models pieces to create a completely different model altogether.

this project focused on finding a way to make the material; volcanic tuff, prematurely age. several attempts at achieving this were done including using resin and finally landing on mixing the tuff with agar agar.

sections showing the caravanserai as it is now that serves the needs in the scale of the human, the car and the truck; and in 20 years of weathering where the human scale is no longer needed and the caravanserai caters to the scale of the car and the truck.

focusing on an abandoned orphanage, the project uncovers layered narratives of marginalisation achieved through governmental policies that enforce ethnic homogenisation and socio-economic exclusion. embracing an eco-feminist perspective, the project confronts traditional architectural restoration practices that reinforce the status quo, by proposing a communal activity of dismantling as a means to expose oppressive structures.

the design included raising the living quarters to upper levels creating walkways between each other and allowing for free flow of circulation on the ground floor whilst also providing much needed communal spaces.
